Supporting Our Community During the SNAP Pause

When SNAP benefits paused, families across the Valley faced impossible choices, like paying rent, keeping the lights on, or putting food on the table. Food insecurity is not just a statistic here; it is our neighbors, our friends, and our families. Many are feeling the strain right now, and the holidays and colder months make it even harder.

At the Black Mountain–Swannanoa Chamber Foundation, our work focuses on connecting people with resources and bringing local nonprofits together to respond to urgent needs. By sharing information, coordinating efforts, and supporting one another, we strengthen the systems that keep families fed, housed, and cared for.
